Film Laminators and Coaters
Lamination of flexible packaging is a finishing process in which a plastic film is taken from a roll and bonded to a substrate, such as paper, cardboard, or aluminum foil. Essentially, this phase involves bonding different materials together to create two, three, or multi-layer films for wraps that offer high-barrier or high-resistance properties.
To ensure effective adhesion, the process is conducted at elevated temperatures and pressures. Both of these factors are applied using heated rollers (for continuous processes) or presses (for intermittent processes). A duplex laminator joins two layers of the web together, while a triplex lamination machine simultaneously bonds three layers in a single pass.
